Thomas Mensah

From an early age anyone who was around Thomas Mensah knew that he was destined to be a success. Not to mention the fact that his father – J.K. Mensah – was a businessman so he had a lot of great knowledge to pass down to his son as well. Thomas was born in 1950 and as soon as he was old enough to start learning to read and write this is exactly what he did. In fact, at a remarkably young age he was able to speak the French language very fluently and he especially loved to read the different articles that were available in the newspapers.

When Thomas Mensah begin school his success did not stop there. He was always good at math and science. All of his hard work paid off because Thomas was given a scholarship that enabled him to be able to study chemical engineering. By 1978 Thomas had worked his way up the educational chart even more. Before moving to the U.S. in 1980 he had obtained his PhD from USTL.

Upon arriving to the US Thomas took on a job in Pennsylvania working with “Air Products and Chemicals” in Allentown. While working here he held the job title, research engineer. During his time here his hard work and dedication paid off yet again because he received a second place prize in one of the prestigious research competitions.

In 1983, Mensah then moved on to work for Corning Glass Works in New York City. While working here he also held the job title of being an engineer. Thomas was a major asset to their team because he was able to help them fix the solution of solving their efficiency problems relating to their Fiber Optic manufacturing process. Not to mention the fact that Thomas was awarded for other things as well while working with this company.

Overtime, Thomas Mensah has received various awards and been able to help various companies solve problems that they never imagined would be solved. He was awarded several patents and even worked with the Department of Energy and the Department of Defense. More recently, in 2007, Thomas Mensah was awarded with the AIChE Williams Grimes Award for Excellence in Chemical Engineering.
