Mark Dean

It is a testament to the perseverance and dedication of the African American spirit, and his work is a shining light in the world of computers and similarly advanced technology. His work at computing giant IBM has been invaluable in improving the way in which computers perform, which in turn has altered our everyday lives. He is a modest individual, with reports claiming that he never really thought that his work would be of such tremendous use. He continues to work and serve on a variety of boards, and while his presence is felt in the world of technology it is sure to be driven by pride, passion, and precision.

Unlike some naturally gifted inventors who seem to struggle in formal education situations, Dean was always a star in the classroom. He shone in mathematics in particular, and was always ahead of the class. The 1980’s were an exciting time in the world of computer technology, and Dean found himself with the necessary skills set to grasp and improve on the constantly evolving technologies and ideas floating about the industry. He ended up working at computer giant IBM, and here he stood out from the pack in an even more impressive way.

Dean’s work at IBM earned him 20 patents, including 3 out of the original 9 that shaped the company itself. His work with massive processing chips and systems circuits which are the heartbeat of large computer networks and smaller systems alike. Dean’s work on the Gigahertz chip has helped it earn the label of having unlimited potential, which is a fair reflection on the man himself. While Gates and Jobs hog the headlines, the fact of the matter is that their contribution is less practical and hands on than that of Dean, which cements his position as one of the world’s leading computer experts, and therefore a cornerstone of our very civilization.
